Orisha explore the boundary between tense restraint and total surrender with their lush, vocal-based electronica. Their critically-acclaimed eponymous debut took listeners on a moody sonic journey through jazz, dub, and industrial influences, lifted by the ethereal vocals of Emah Fox, a voice described by Rolling Stone as 'lush and emotive'. Tracks from the first album received airplay across Australia, Europe and America, including high rotation on JJJ, featured in compilations and in independent films, and was Revolver Magazine's dance CD of the week. Their second album, 'Falling Open,' released by Aikansha, takes the strengths of Orisha's debut , now adding choral, operatic, and discordant harmonies for a more intimate and playful album that still retains the dark mystery of the first. Orisha's lush take on electronica has incited comparisons with *Massive Attack, Cocteau Twins, Brian Eno, Bjork, Lamb, Sia* and more. Recent side-projects include a jazz-hop collaboration with New York-based *DJ Spooky AKA That Subliminal Kid* and a dark acoustic cover of fellow Australians INXS' hit *'Need You Tonight'* (long a highlight in Orisha's live set and soon to be released with an accompanying zombie apocalypse filmclip by Jason Chave).

Born to a former nun and catholic priest, Orisha's vocalist Emah has been singing and writing since the age of eleven. She combines an intense, sensual presence and a twisted sense of humor in her performances with the overriding focus being THAT *'lush and emotive'* voice (Rolling Stone) while the lavish soundscapes over tricky tech-beats take her audience on moody sonic journey that lingers long after the music has ceased.
